Darrell Waltrip Comes Back

If you were a fan of Darrell Waltrip in his days driving in the Winston Cup – now Sprint Cup – Series, he has been around quite a lot in a variety of ways. He has been one of the lead analysts for NASCAR on Fox Sports since its inception in 2001, as well as contributing to coverage on the former Speed TV network. In some other lesser-known roles, he has driven the water truck at Eldora Speedway for the Prelude to the Dream, and also run some Truck Series races.

Possibly his most high-profile role since retiring from driving (outside the broadcast booth) was in 2009 when he returned to the track in the Pennzoil Victory Challenge. A former and popular event in the all-star weekend, Waltrip followed up on a challenge he received from a current Cup driver and battled with NASCAR’s best to see who could perform the best burnouts in Charlotte.
