Winner: The No. 4 Team’s Night Strategy

It was a slow start to the race for Kevin Harvick. He began in eighth place but never really went anywhere. He also had a couple of long battles with Brad Keselowski as the two took turns battling back and forth during the first half of the race.

That left Harvick hovering around the top-10, trying to find a run or some type of momentum.

After the sun went down, everything changed. Harvick’s No.4 car was noticeably faster as he climbed back into the top-5 and went to work.

Harvick made it up to 3rd place and swapped spots with Jimmie Johnson a few times before eventually settling in at 2nd and finishing the race a couple of seconds behind Martin Truex Jr.

According to crew chief Rodney Childers on Twitter, Harvick was 12 seconds back of Truex at one point in the race and, with help from his team, he was able to battle all the way back for his third 2nd-place finish of the season.
