End The Marathon

First off, NASCAR can’t continue to use the Memorial Day weekend as a reason to make the race as long as it is. In fact, that’s part of what is hurting the Coca-Cola 600 and it will continue to until the race length is shortened. Think about it… NASCAR’s ratings have been on the decline for most of the season, does anyone really think an extra 100 miles will make things more interesting?

Now, I’m not saying this small change will fix the problem instantly, but it does begin to make the event not seem as long and drawn out as it has been over the last few years.  It also gives NASCAR the opportunity to begin the race at a better time in the day, something that could help them key in on a wider demographic during the Memorial Day weekend.
