NASCAR: Five Ways To Make The Coca-Cola 600 Better
Location, Location, Location
Another thing that needs to change is the location. Sure, it could be argued that the race belongs there due to its proximity to most of the teams race shops, essentially giving the race a backyard kind of feel to its fans, that charm doesn’t seem to translate over to the television audience and sometimes leaves them bewildered at what makes this race so special.
To combat this problem and the problem of the lackluster racing seen during the Coca-Cola 600, they need to change the location to somewhere that will create exciting racing and have a special kind of feel too it as well. NASCAR might want to consider changing the location of the event to somewhere like Bristol or even Talladega, where the unique style of racing will help to attract fans young and old.
Sure, this would bring NASCAR back to the issue of creating manufactured excitement, but with the ratings predicament that NASCAR currently finds themselves in, anything would be better than to just stand by and let the race continue to deliver lackluster results. In fact, it should almost be insulting to fans that NASCAR has let things stay the same this long.
Maybe even adding a new track to the schedule for this event would be something cool for all involved.
