NASCAR: Five Ways To Make The Coca-Cola 600 Better
Make A New Tradition
Next, NASCAR needs to make it feel like a tradition in the best way possible. Sure, NASCAR does do a yearly military tribute to the troops during Memorial Day weekend, but they repeatedly fail to build the event up as a huge race. Think about it… Does the Coca-Cola 600 get as much hype as the Daytona 500 or the Southern 500? No and that’s NASCAR’s biggest mistake regarding the event.
Take the Daytona 500 for example, the race is hyped up with a week of intense heat races, pole qualifying and increased coverage! There’s also the Brickyard 400, which features a truck race at Eldora, and the historic Brickyard 400 itself. If anything, NASCAR needs to give the Coca-Cola 600 a Super Bowl type feel to it, not the throw away marathon race it’s become.
