Can Stewart Surprise At Pocono?

It’s all Jeff Gordon’s fault! He’s the one that raised fans expectations of what a final season can look like and now Tony Stewart is left to try to replicate that success in his final season as well. Unfortunately for Stewart, things aren’t going as well and he is running out of time to lock in his Chase spot. Not only that, he’s running out of time to give fans an experience to remember him by.

All that can change at Pocono, where Stewart has won before in dramatic fashion and very well could again for the final time of his career. It would also virtually guarantee him a spot in the Chase and give him at least a chance to compete for the title in the fall.

While the odds are definitely against him, especially with Stewart’s lackluster performance since returning from his back injury a few weeks ago, that doesn’t mean the cards couldn’t fall in his favor and result in a win on Sunday? In fact, a fuel-strategy race might be just the kind of race Smoke needs to help him get back to victory lane.
