Loser: The Earnhardts
It wasn’t a good day for anyone with the last name of Earnhardt.
On Lap 62, Dale Earnhardt Jr. came out of Turn 2 in between AJ Allmendinger and Chris Buescher. When Buescher began to move up the track, he clipped Earnhardt Jr.’s rear end, sending him into the wall and ending his day.
His 39th-place finish has him sitting just 19 points up on Ryan Blaney in the standings, with Blaney serving as the driver sitting right above the Chase cutoff.
Near halfway, Jeffrey Earnhardt hit the wall. He came into the pits and came back out before getting into another accident, this time with scarier results.
As Earnhardt pulled the No. 32 back down onto pit road, his right front tire caught fire, leading to a fast exit from his car and the end of his day. He would go on to finish 35th.
