Winner: The Chances Of Another Road Course Race

Road course racing has been a topic of interest in NASCAR over the past few seasons.

While the circuit currently contains Sonoma and Watkins Glen, the general thought is that either more road courses or more road course races would benefit the sport.

It’s obvious that road courses bring out much more excitement than one of the standard ovals. Whether it’s the left and right turns, the elevation changes, or the excitement of certain passing corners (Turns 7 and 11 at Sonoma), there’s just something about road courses that tend to make each race more exciting for the fans.

While some would prefer a new track, like Circuit of the Americas, others simply want to see two races at one of the tracks already in the circuit, whether it be in the first 26 races of the season or the Chase.

While adding another road race to the schedule is not something that would happen soon, Sunday’s race definitely gave NASCAR something to look into.

Whether it was battles for the lead or the finish (with Stewart bumping Hamlin), there’s definitely a legitimate case to be made about adding another road course race to the schedule–especially after the response from this weekend’s thriller.
