NASCAR: Five Lessons Learned From The Coke Zero 400 at Daytona
Brad Keselowski Is A Serious Championship Contender
Brad Keselowski won his first race at Daytona Saturday night, earned Penske Racing their 100th cup and solidified himself as a serious contender for the 2016 Sprint Cup Championship.
Keselowski continues to add to his impressive restrictor plate track record, having previously won at Talladega earlier in the season.
He also won at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, showing that he can handle the typical 1.5 mile tracks that make up a majority of the Chase.
With the current Chase system of “win and move onto the next round” being able to handle and run well on 1.5 mile tracks is extremely important, but so is being able to survive at Talladega when it comes up in the Chase as well.
Drivers have seen championship runs end because of Talladega being in the Chase, but as Keselowski continues to prove he is a top driver at super speedways it makes his chances of making it all the way to Homestead look even better.
Keselowski joins Kyle Busch in the three wins category this season and also looks like the only driver who can stop Busch from winning two championships in a row.
His win at Daytona solidifies Keselowski as a serious contender for the 2016 Sprint Cup Championship.
