JGR Continues Dominant Run With Penske Close Behind

If practice on Thursday is any indication of who will be running up front, most of them will be driving Toyotas.

Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin all finished in the top 5 when practice was over on Thursday.

Kyle Busch always runs well at Kentucky and it looks like his experience is helping out most of his teammates.

But while Joe Gibbs Racing dominated practice, Penske Racing struggled. Keselowski grazed the wall during practice and Logano didn’t even crack the top 10.

Both drivers will even up being two of the top drivers on Saturday night though. Given their history on these types of tracks and how well they are running this season, it’s hard to not imagine Penske Racing being a major factor during the Quaker State 400.

Logano won the race at Michigan, the other track that saw the new downforce rule package. With the same rule now being applied to Kentucky, expect him to take advantage of it and be one of the top drivers when the race is over.

Brad Keselowski has one at Kentucky twice in his NASCAR career and is the only other driver to come close to Kyle Busch at being the king of this track.

As the season continues onward, Joe Gibbs Racing and Penske Racing will be the two dominant teams. Both organizations will run well on Saturday night.
