NASCAR: 2016 Big Prediction Page (Mid-Season Edition)
Will NASCAR On NBC See Their 2016 Ratings Top The 2015 Ratings?
- Martin Feigen: So far 2016 has been a mixed-bag on the ratings. The fan response to the Coke Zero 400 was not good and that does not bode well going forward. If the Olympics does well, NASCAR will not then the NFL takes over.
- Mike Hutton: I sure hope so. I for one prefer NBC to FOX. Gordon was solid, but DW and Larry Mac haven’t driven or touched a car in almost 20 years. Burton and Letarte have.
- Alex Herbst: As long as Mother Nature cooperates, I would expect the numbers on NBC Sports to get a boost. The Olympics will provide an interesting effect I believe, as numbers may slip as races move to CNBC and USA, but could be boosted after by big promotion.
- Cole Mentzel: I feel like the ratings are set to go down for NBC this season. Throughout the year, we’ve seen record lows for the races and with NBC’s commercial fiasco at Daytona, I can see a lot of viewers not tuning in.
- Marco Venosta: NBC provided a good service last season but things haven’t started off in the best of ways this season: an announce team not at the same level of the one that Fox has had in the first half of the season and too many commercials have made for a very annoying Coke Zero 400. So I think their TV ratings will not match the ones they had last year.
- Christopher Olmstead: It will be a rollercoaster ride for NBC in 2016 much like it has been for NASCAR over the last decade. While overall I think numbers will be down, there should be some bright spots, like Darlington.
