Keselowski and his crew chief, Paul Wolfe, took a huge gamble at Kentucky on Saturday night and used a different pit strategy from the rest of the field of drivers. It eventually put the 2 car out in front toward the end of the race.
As the race started to come to an end, drivers were going into pit road for fuel and tires. The 2 car however, stayed out.
With two laps to go his car would shutdown as Carl Edwards was inches away from taking over the lead. Keselowski eventually got his car started back up, held of Carl Edwards and went on to win his fourth race of the season.
He was completely out of gas at the end of the race and had to be pushed into Victory Lane.
Since NASCAR has been racing at Kentucky Keselowski has won half of them, with three total races at this track.
More importantly, he now has the most wins this season and sits only four points behind Harvick in the standings, even though he has three more wins than the driver of the 4 car.
The Chase will be here before we know it and Keselowski and the 2 team continue to prove that they can handle anything thrown at them in the post season.
From winning at both super speedways, to handling tracks like Las Vegas, and now being able to play and win the fuel milage game, it’s clear that the 2 team is in championship form right now and they are the team to beat.
