By Cole Mentzel
Contender No. 1: Denny Hamlin
Stats at New Hampshire:

- Top-5’s: 8
- Top-10’s: 12
- Laps Led: 490
Whether it’s Martinsville, Loudon or Richmond, Denny Hamlin knows what it takes to win on short tracks.
Hamlin has been consistent at New Hampshire over the years. He’s finished in the top-15 in 17 of his 20 total starts at the track. He won his first race there in 2007 after leading 46 laps and he captured his second victory in the Chase in 2012 after leading 193 laps. Hamlin has finished second four different times over the years.
His average finish of 10.2 is the highest among active drivers.
After winning the Daytona 500, Hamlin has had an up-and-down season as he’s had his fair share of wrecks and finishes below 30th since week six at Martinsville.
However, he is still a part of the best race team in NASCAR right now. He’ll be able to use the Joe Gibbs Racing resources and stay competitive at one of his best tracks.
