NASCAR: Five Big Reasons Fans Are Leaving The Sport
Toyota dominance.
It’s no secret that NASCAR has deep ties to American pride and the everyday working man. With that being said and the dominance displayed by Toyota over the past few years in the Sprint Cup Series, it’s pretty safe to say that this is one of the reasons that traditional NASCAR fans are leaving their once beloved sport, or at least disliking it more and more.
That’s what has made Toyota’s dominance so hard to watch over the past few seasons. Sure, some fans have made the transition and embraced the new car manufacturer when it first arrived on the NASCAR scene, but for others, it’s a clear indication that the sport has changed and will continue to change in order to appeal to a massive audience.
Not only is the sport being changed by Toyota, they are essentially being dominated by the car brand as well. In fact, if you combine all the races from all three different series’ this season, they have won 26 out of the first 44 races this season. Toyota has dominated The Camping World Truck Series, winning eight of the last ten races and also has eight wins after 18 races in Sprint Cup as well.
With Toyota becoming more and more dominant and other manufacturers struggling just to catch up, it should come as no surprise that fans are fed up with the absurd performance of Toyota this season and will leave the sport as a result. Either that or claim that NASCAR is receiving more money from Toyota than other manufacturers. I’m not saying this is valid or even a good reason, but NASCAR fans like what they like and may seem not to like Toyota as compared to Chevy and Ford.
In the end, this is the time that NASCAR fans should put their petty problems aside and stop leaving the sport over such a ridiculous things. In fact, if these so called diehard fans wanted what was best for the sport, they would encourage the competition and redemption that Toyota’s dominance presents to both Chevrolet and Ford. Unfortunately, some fans feel much more content to just complain.
