NASCAR: Five Big Reasons Fans Are Leaving The Sport
Veterans Leaving
Let’s be honest here for a minute. While Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Austin Dillon and Joey Logano will be superstars of the sport one day (Logano is now), they don’t have same appeal that the veterans seem to have with NASCAR fans. Sure, Elliott seems to be the exception to this rule right now, which could be due to who his father was and what ride he took over, but he doesn’t have the power to take over the sport yet.
Drivers leaving (Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart) coupled with the driver who will most likely leave over the next five years (Kenseth, Biffle, Earnhardt Jr., Johnson, Harvick, Patrick) have left fans with nowhere to turn or concern about where to turn to. What’s making this problem even worse is the fact that the younger stars have been unable to prove themselves and establish themselves as the next big thing.
Despite some great runs and some spectacular point’s days, these young drivers have been unable to snatch victory from the veteran drivers and that shows fans that these stars are ill equip at best to become the next star of this sport (right now). Unfortunately for NASCAR, fans are tired of waiting for these young guns to prove themselves and many are leaving the sport in frustration over this.

What can NASCAR do though? The sport is basically helpless to intervene, especially since doing so would give an unfair advantage to the rookies and young stars of the sport, but to keep things the same seems just as dangerous. To be honest, NASCAR needs pay more attention to the rising stars of NASCAR, which they have been doing lately, and just hope that the wins follow along with that.
If not, NASCAR will have to rely on drivers like Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne, Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson to carry the sport until a new star is established and proves themselves in NASCAR’s top series.
