No. 4 Ryan Newman’s last Sprint Cup Series win comes after Johnson has issues in the pits (2013).

In 2013 at Indianapolis Ryan Newman had showed speed for the whole weekend and started the race from the pole. In his home race though he quickly found himself losing the lead to Johnson who would stay in front for the majority of the event. It looked like the winner of the previous edition had the race under control when a loose lug nut in the pits during his last green flag stop gave Newman another chance. The crew chief of the #39 team called for just two right side tires to put his driver in front of the hard charging Johnson and fight for the win.

It looked like a very risky move but in the end it paid off, with the “Rocket Man” able to fight off his competitor and cross the finish line first with a comfortable lead. As of now that emotional win in Indianapolis was the last one in Newman’s Sprint Cup career, but it was one to remember for sure.
