Harvick Struggles without Crew Chief

Last week one of the predictions we looked at involved the 4 team struggling in the pits. They’ve had their issues recently, but they were able to rebound somewhat at Indy and Kevin Harvick finished the race in 6th, despite having to pit twice early in the race when he felt like he had a flat tire.

Just as they seemed to start to move past their problems on pit road though, the 4 team has been penalized coming out of Indy and now they will be entering Pocono this weekend without Crew Chief Rodney Childers.

The 4 team was penalized for a lug nut violation, the same type of penalty we’ve seen other teams in NASCAR deal with this season.

The problem for the 4 team though, is that they are arguably one of the better groups in NASCAR but have been struggling with their own issues recently. Indianapolis last week should have been a time for them to bounce back, but now heading into Pocono they have to compete without one of their main components.

If they hope to stand a chance in the Chase, the 4 team needs to improve and do it quickly.

Harvick will struggle at Pocono without Rodney Childers and the 4 team will continue to slide further away from looking like championship contenders.
