NASCAR: The Five Most Overrated Drivers In The Cup Series
Kasey Kahne
Does anyone remember the time that Kasey Kahne won six races in one season? Not only did he accomplish this in only his third full year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, he also had 13 top-five’s and 14 top-ten’s in his first season in Cup. While all this caused media personalities and fans alike to speculate on the bright future that Kahne had in front of him, he sadly hit a road block in later years.
The road block started the year after he won six races, when he failed to win a single race all season long and only had one top-five finish to his name. Kahne did go on to achieve a handful of wins over the course of his career, but his failure to secure a Chase spot in multiple seasons and his growing winless streak leave a lot of questions as to what people saw in him in the first place.
In fact, one would think that top quality Hendrick equipment and a two former champions as teammates would have helped him sail to the top of the NASACR Sprint Cup Series, but that has sadly not been the case with Kahne and that trend seems to be continuing into 2016. While Kahne does sit 16th in points at the moment and has a shot to make the Chase, one has to wonder how far he could really go if he did make NASCAR’s version of the playoffs.
And that’s where the problem really lies when it comes to Kasey Kahne. No matter what equipment you put him in, no matter what crew chief you put in his corner, he is really never able to do anything with it and sooner or later it’s going to cost him his spot. Hendrick Motorsports has tried this experiment long enough and it’s time to bring another talent into the HMS fold.
