No. 1 – Jimmie Johnson

No other NASCAR driver will most likely ever sit on top of this ranking or any other similar. Johnson has won 25 times in his NASCAR Chase career and that includes six championships, five of which were consecutive.

Johnson has dominated the Chase in NASCAR in a way that nobody else ever has with the exception of Richard Petty. Johnson has used the Chase as a personal platform to elevate him head and shoulders above the rest of the drivers that he competes against on a regular basis.

The only thing left for Johnson to do is crack the code that is the new Chase format. Johnson won his sixth title in 2013, and the new Chase format came in 2014. A seventh title this season would not only tie him for the most all-time with Earnhardt and Petty, but it would also be his first under this new format and further verification that he might be the greatest that the sport has ever seen.
