No. 6 – Jeff Gordon

The Chase is a sore subject if you’re a fan of four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon. If the NASCAR Chase was never a thing, Gordon would have won his fifth and sixth championships under the previous championship format. However, the Chase is a thing and despite finishing in the top-four in the final standings six times since his last title, Gordon was never able to win his fifth championship.

Gordon exited NASCAR after the 2015 season and with him he took his six Chase wins. Those six wins put him just outside of the top-five for the most Chase wins all-time. This season Gordon could add to that number depending on when Dale Earnhardt Jr. returns to the No. 88 machine. Gordon winning in the No. 88 would not equate to winning another title but it would be an added bonus for the soon to be NASCAR Hall of Famer.
