No. 5 – Denny Hamlin

Hamlin has come close to winning a championship but he has never quite been able to get there. Hamlin’s Chase performance hasn’t been the reason as he sits on this ranking having won seven times during the Chase, only four other drivers have more Chase wins than he does.

2006, 2010 and 2014 were the closest in which Hamlin has come to winning that elusive first title. Hamlin finished top-three in the final standings each of those seasons, with a career-best 2nd place finish in 2010.

In 2016 Hamlin will once again look to put himself in position to win a title. Hamlin has already won twice this season and it’s not a stretch to think that he could add to that win total in the Chase. Hamlin currently has the second-most wins in the Chase while lacking a championship.
