New Hampshire To Michigan

Last weekend Bristol marked the fifth race of the 2016 NASCAR season that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has missed.

At New Hampshire the team had Alex Bowman drive the No. 88 machine. Bowman had a solid run and was running up front in the latter part of the race until a wreck resulted in him finishing outside of the top-20.

The week after New Hampshire it was announced that Jeff Gordon was going to step into the No. 88 and drive at Indianapolis and Pocono. Gordon managed a top-15 at Indy before struggling and finishing outside of the top-20 at Pocono. After Pocono it was announced that Gordon would remain in the car for Watkins Glen, Bristol and any other races that he was needed for.

Gordon rebounded from his poor finish at Pocono with a top-15 at Watkins Glen and a season-best 11th this past weekend in Bristol. After qualifying in Bristol it was announced that Gordon would not be in the car at Michigan due to a previous commitment. After that announcement at the end of qualifying HMS confirmed that Alex Bowman would be in the car at Michigan this weekend if needed.
