The Post-Race Failures and Penalties Will Continue

Brad Keselowski ran well last week at Michigan, finishing in third place. It was after the race though, where Keselowski and Team Penske would run into trouble.

The 2 car failed post race inspection, and as a result Keselowski was penalized 10 points, Paul Wolfe, the crew chief of the 2 team, was fined $15,000 and Team owner Roger Penske was penalized 10 owner points.

Teams and drivers being penalized post-race has been a common occurrence this year. We’ve seen lug nut violation penalties throughout the season after the race is over, Kurt Busch and Greg Biffle are just two of the drivers who have dealt with the penalty this season.

Matt Kenseth’s 20 car failed post- race inspection after he won at New Hampshire, and NASCAR handed out a similar penalty to the one given to the 2 team this week.

As the regular season comes to an end and the Chase starts, don’t be surprised to see more post-race failures and even more penalties as teams try everything to get their cars to be as fast as possible.

Will it end up impacting someone in the Chase? We will have to see, but throughout the history of NASCAR drivers and teams have always pushed the limits with the rules of the sport.

We’ve seen a high amount of post-race issues this season and it won’t stop anytime soon.
