Alex Bowman Still Has Time to Improve

Alex Bowman has had a good amount of attention on him this Sprint Cup season since being one of the replacement drivers for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

It’s been interesting to see how Bowman would make the most of his opportunity in the Hendrick Motorsports powered machine and for the most part he’s had several successful moments in the 88.

He’s had solid runs when filling in for Junior, and it looked like he could have his best run this Sunday at Charlotte.

He managed to qualify in second, falling to Kevin Harvick who won the pole and when the race started he was able to hold a spot in the top 5 against some of NASCAR’s current top drivers.

Bowman wasn’t able to hold his spot in the top 5 for long though, as he would eventually hit the wall and see his day end early.

Being in one of the top cars in the sport and running into enough trouble that he hits the wall proves that this young driver needs more time in the Sprint Cup Series before he reaches his max potential.

With how well he’s been competing it won’t be a surprise to see Bowman land a full-time ride in the Xfinity Series soon and from there he will hopefully find himself in the Sprint Cup Series.

Before that happens though, he will hopefully take advantage of his time left with the 88 team. He will be filling in for Junior for the rest of the season, besides for Martinsville on October 30th, giving this young driver several more opportunities to improve before the season ends.
