Loser: Chase Elliott

After a solid Round of 16, Chase Elliott got into trouble at Charlotte. After he was bumped by Kyle Busch during a restart, he found himself in the wall and in an early hole.

This weekend, he went to Kansas looking to get back above the cut line and possibly earn spot in the next round so he could avoid the dangers of Talladega.

Everything started off well for him as he hung around in the top-10. Eventually, he made a run and drove past Kevin Harvick, but after leading just four laps, he had a tire issue that led to another stop which put him a lap down.

He battled his car the rest of the day and suffered through things like bumping other cars and hitting the wall. Then with a few laps to go, Elliott had another issue–this time in Turn 2. He limped back around the racetrack as the caution never came out and ended up finishing 31st.

As a result, he’s now last in the Chase standings and 25 points below the cut line. He faces the challenge of earning a win at Talladega to advance to the Round of 8.
