Winner: Coming Back Strong

We already talked about Matt Kenseth’s bad luck, but now we have to mention the other side of things.

Joey Logano was on his way to potentially winning at Martinsville last season and moving on to the Championship 4 when Kenseth took him out. Then the next weekend, he had trouble at Texas. Finally, he was eliminated despite a third-place finish at Phoenix.

This year was different. Logano was on his way to making it to the Championship 4, but it was Kenseth’s late spin his win that helped him clinch his spot.

We’ve seen a late surge from Logano as he’s won two out of the last four races while logging second-place and ninth-place finishes. In the process, he’s led double-digit laps each weekend and suddenly looks like a driver ready to go hard for his first championship next weekend.

Logano’s clutch win has him in position, yet again, to win the championship. He’s winless at Homestead, but that won’t stop him from getting in position to earn a victory next weekend.
