4. Jimmie Johnson (Watkins Glen – 2000)

There’s really not much to say about this one.

Sure, one could talk about the brutality and suddenness of Johnson’s head on collision into the styrofoam barricade, but words don’t really do this crash justice It is however worth noting that Johnson felt so amazing after surviving the incident that he stood up on his racecar’s hood and celebrated like he just won the Daytona 500 and the Cup championship in the same year.

While he wouldn’t accomplish that feat for several more years, Johnson’s awkward celebration was well deserved, especially after the wild ride he had just taken moments ago. What was even more amazing was the fact that Johnson was able to walk away from the incident under his own power.
