2. Derrick Cope and John Krebbs (Sonoma – 1994)

It’s funny how a simple pass attempt can lead to disaster in the Cup Series. That’s exactly what happened to Derrick Cope during a 1994 race at Sonoma, when Cope made contact with Krebbs, sending them both into the wall. Cope’s car was luckily able to come to a stop after obliterating the wall, but Krebb’s wasn’t didn’t have the same luck, as his car started to flip end over end into a ditch.

Both drivers made were thankfully able to walk away from the incident without injuries, but it was still a wild spectacle to behold, especially since Krebbs and Cope landed near and spectator area for race fans.
