No. 3: Indianapolis, 2014

Here we have the closest Indianapolis 500 history in the DW12 chassis era. Ryan Hunter-Reay and 3-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves went at it after a red flag came out with eight laps to go due to a huge crash involving Townsend Bell.

Both drivers made several passes on the other, several of which coming on the outside, and Hunter-Reay even made an insane move on the inside of Castroneves on the backstretch that almost resulted in him clipping the grass.

As the two drivers crossed the start/finish line with the white flag in the air, Hunter-Reay got out in front of Castroneves with yet another outside pass and did not look back.

Castroneves did, however, make it interesting. He reeled Hunter-Reay in on the front straightaway on the final lap with the checkered flag in sight. However, it was not enough. Hunter-Reay won the race by 0.06 seconds, the 2nd closest margin in Indy 500 history.
