No. 3: Scott Dixon, Chip Ganassi Racing

Even in a down season in 2016, Scott Dixon was still one of the best oval track drivers in the series, finishing 4th in points earned in oval races.

He finished lower than 8th place in just one oval race all season, and that was because of his crash at Texas when he was slated for a solid finish. He won at Phoenix and placed 3rd at Iowa.

Dixon has won at every oval that the IndyCar Series raced at last season over his career except for Iowa, where he has still finished in the top 6 a total of seven times in 10 races.

The driver with the 4th most wins in IndyCar history (40) belongs on this list as long as he shows he can still do what it takes to be a contender on oval tracks. While he is not at the front at every single oval race, the fact that he still strings together solid finishes, including wins, on oval tracks is why he belongs this high up the list.
