No. 5: Honda Drivers Will Win More Races Than Chevrolet Drivers

Since Chevrolet re-entered the series back in 2012, their drivers have won 57 races as opposed to Honda’s drivers’ 27 victories. This season could, however, be Honda’s breakout season.

Of the 21 full-time car entries on the series grid, 13 will be powered by Honda. These 13 include four from Andretti Autosport and four from Chip Ganassi Racing, two of the biggest and best teams in the series. This is the highest percentage (61.9%) of the full-time grid using Honda-powered cars since Chevrolet re-entered the series in 2012.

In the five seasons Chevrolet has been back in the series, Honda drivers have won more than six races in a season just once. That was in 2013, when they won nine of the series 19 races. That was also the last season that Chip Ganassi Racing used Honda to power their cars. Now with them back at Honda, that will give Honda an overall competitive boost and allow drivers of the Honda cars to win more races than drivers of the Chevrolet cars.
