NASCAR: 5 Predictions For The Monster Energy Cup Series Kobalt 400
New Timing Lines Will Cause the Same Problems
One of the biggest issues last week at Atlanta was the amount of pit road penalties handed out throughout the race.
Thirteen pit road penalties total, one of them ended Kevin Harvick’s dominant race lead.
As drivers get ready to race at Las Vegas, one of the last things they want to worry about is speeding issues on pit road again.
Unfortunately for drivers, NASCAR has installed extra timing lines at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Drivers will now have NASCAR monitoring their speeds on pit road even more, and the spots where they could gain a little speed have been lost. They won’t be used to where the new timing lines have been added, and fans will more than likely see another race impacted by speeding penalties on pit road.
The new timing lines aren’t a surprise though. Drivers know that like Atlanta, Las Vegas has undergone a similar change in the pits and also have red light warnings in their dashboard to let them know if they are going too fast on pit road.
Still, they had the same feature at Atlanta, and it didn’t help.
Expect pit road speeding penalties and several top drivers to have their finishes impacted at the Kobalt 400 this Sunday because of the additional timing lines.
