NASCAR: 5 Predictions For The Monster Energy Cup Series Kobalt 400
Las Vegas Proves a Second Race Was Not the Right Move
One of the recent stories from NASCAR has been the addition of a second Las Vegas Motor Speedway race in 2018.
The second race at New Hampshire in the Playoffs is getting dropped and in it’s place will be Las Vegas.
Now there are multiple problems with this, one being that it adds yet another 1.5 mile track to the Playoffs, but the real issue with this is that the races at Las Vegas are nothing unique. It’s another cookie cutter track where one driver always emerges as the fastest and the rest of the field fails to keep up.
We already saw what happened at Atlanta last weekend; Stages and other cautions were not enough to stop Kevin Harvick. In fact, if there were no stages during the Atlanta race the only cautions would have come at the end of the race.
NASCAR continues to make a big deal about heading west with the first stop being at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but this track has never stood out like some of the others on the NASCAR circuit.
This race will have no memorable moments on Sunday and Las Vegas will prove that from a viewing standpoint, adding a second race at this track was not the right move.
