Horrible Weekend – Joey Logano

As I mentioned earlier, Joey Logano was already a major part of the headlines coming into Phoenix because of his pit road incident with Kyle Busch in Las Vegas. Despite not being penalized and both drivers saying all was great, there was still some speculation that there would be carryover between Logano and Busch in Phoenix.

Early in the race Busch was able to track down Logano on the track but nothing happened between the two then or for the remainder of the race.

Unfortunately, avoiding a confrontation with Busch was the only positive for Logano on Sunday. After leading and winning the first stage, Logano had a speeding penalty be fell back in the field. As he battled his way back towards the front, the brakes on his No. 22 machine began to give his issues, causing his march forward to be slowed during runs. Late in the race he blew a tire with six laps to go and Busch leading the race.

Last weekend Logano intentionally cost Busch a solid finish and this weekend he unintentionally cost him a win.
