Best Weekend Ever – Ryan Newman

The best weekend ever doesn’t always go to the driver who won that weekend, but when it’s a driver that hasn’t won since 2013, it becomes a no-brainer.

Critics will say whatever they want to about Newman and the quality of the win and whether he stole one or not and that’s fine. In NASCAR there is no such thing as styles points. If that were the case some of Richard Petty’s 200 wins in which he raced against less than 25 cars in races 1/2 the distance of what they run today wouldn’t count.

In NASCAR a win is a win and after not winning for almost four years, it couldn’t have been much sweeter for Newman and his No. 31 team. The only thing hurting the moment was the fact that Newman appeared to clearly be a bit under the weather while in victory lane. I suppose racing for 3+ hours inside of a racecar that is more than 140 degrees will do that to a guy.

No matter though, because this past weekend, Ryan Newman had himself the best weekend ever!
