No. 6 – Stewart-Haas Racing

  • Previous Week: N/A
  • Auto Club Results: Clint Bowyer (3rd), Kevin Harvick (13th), Kurt Busch (24th) and Danica Patrick (26th)

NASCAR welcomed Clint Bowyer back to the world of being competitive on Sunday in Fontana when he posted his first top-five finish in more than 50 races. Through five races this season, Bowyer has four top-13 finishes, the same number that he had in his previous 40 races before the start of the 2017 season.

While Bowyer is trending up, the rest of SHR looks to be a bit stagnant after the first five races of the season.

Kevin Harvick has three top-13 finishes in five races to go along with a pair of finishes outside of the top-20. While these aren’t horrible numbers, they are far from the numbers that Harvick fans have become accustomed to since he jumped over to SHR. Kurt Busch won the Daytona 500 but hasn’t done much of anything since. After winning Daytona and finishing 7th the week after, Busch hasn’t finished better than 24th over the last three races.

Then there is Danica Patrick. The hope for Patrick was that moving to a Ford would provide some sort of a boost to her NASCAR career. Through five races that doesn’t seem to be the case. Patrick is barely inside of the top-30 in points heading into Martinsville with finishes of 33rd, 17th, 36th, 22nd and 26th.
