Some may look at the standings alone and think to themselves 7th place is not that bad. Kyle Busch is looking at the standings disappointed with himself. Part of the electricity Busch brings to the sport is his passion and determination to win races. Another part of that electricity stems from his emotions when things don’t go his way. The latter has highlighted his 2017 campaign.

The Daytona 500 looked promising as Busch got out to an early lead and won the opening stage. However, a tire went down and eliminated the #18 early. Busch’s remarks against Goodyear tires received a fair amount of publicity.

Then of course there was Las Vegas where we saw Rowdy go after Joey Logano after the two got into each other racing for position. The on-track exchange led to the #18 wrecking on the final lap. Busch was obviously angry and decided to let Logano know in the form of a physical altercation.

After Vegas, Busch seemed to put the incident behind him (for now) and scored three straight top 10 finishes. That streak ended last week at Texas. The 2015 champ knows he needs to get back in the headlines for winning races instead of producing YouTube hits with his post-race antics if he wants to contend for his second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship.
