NASCAR: 5 Predictions For The Food City 500 At Bristol
Someone Goes Home Unhappy
We saw it at Martinsville and we will see it again at Bristol; when it comes to short track racing someone always goes home a little unhappy.
One of the best features about short track racing is how it can push drivers to their limit when it comes to being pushed around the track. From getting bumped up the track to getting pushed into someone else, short track racing can get very physical.
Stages might impact it even more this season as we saw what happened with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch at Martinsville.
And while Martinsville is a shorter track when compared to Bristol, we’ve seen a few drivers leave this track unhappy, like Tony Stewart back in 2012.
Stewart and Matt Kenseth were racing for the lead when neither refused to give up any position and both ended up spinning out. Stewart’s car took a lot of damage and this prompted him to get out of his car and how Kenseth his displeasure by throwing his helmet at Kenseth’s car.
Could we see something like this at Bristol this weekend? Anything is possible and we’ve already seen plenty of tempers flare this season. Of course we all remember Kyle Busch showing his displeasure to Joey Logano after Vegas, but we’ve seen other little scuffles between Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ryan Blaney this season as well.
Short track racing always leads to someone going home unhappy and at Bristol it’s not a matter of if, but who is going to rant about another driver when the Food City 500 ends.
