NASCAR: 5 Predictions For The Food City 500 At Bristol
Kevin Harvick Wins at Thunder Valley
If you want an example of how starting order doesn’t matter as much at a track like Bristol, look no further than Kevin Harvick.
Kevin Harvick won the race at Bristol last August after starting from 24th place. This year though, he won’t have to work as hard as he will be starting the Food City 500 from 10th place.
Harvick is a great pick to win almost any race on the Monster Energy Cup Series circuit as he’s a top driver in the sport and is usually in contention for the win. This season though he’s still searching for his first win.
Harvick has finished well and led laps this season, he finished fourth at Texas and sixth at Phoenix, but he’s also struggled a bit as well, finishing 20th at Martinsville and 38th at Las Vegas.
Bristol though is a track where Kevin Harvick races well. It’s a track that has seen repaves and reworks over the years, but more recently it seems as though Harvick has gotten a hold of this track.
Besides for winning here last August, he’s finished seventh and second over the last two years at Thunder Valley. It’s a massive improvement from some of his other finishes at this track, specifically a 39th place finish back in 2014.
Bristol is the type of track where a driver needs to know when to be aggressive. It’s why Harvick has had success here recently. He is the type of driver to bring the aggression and not one to worry about how someone else might feel if he needs to move them out of the way on the track.
Harvick continues to show his mastery of Bristol this weekend as he wins the Food City 500 and becomes the newest contender for the NASCAR championship this season.
