By Matt Lovisa

Career wins: 6
Last three races: 14.3 average finish, 1 win, 2 top-five finishes, 128 laps led
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the master at Talladega during the early 2000’s. He won four straight races from 2001 to 2003 but since then, has visited victory lane twice.
His most recent win came in the spring race of 2015 where he led 67 laps and backed it up in the fall with a second place finish after leading 61 laps. Earnhardt Jr. raced at Talladega just once in 2016, finishing last after crashing out.
Talladega is one of the hardest tracks to predict with the “big one” always a threat to take out a lot of cars. Earnhardt Jr. has had mixed success recently avoiding the big crashes, even when running out in front. He will only have one chance to use a Talladega victory to earn a spot in the playoffs but fans will get to see him go for another victory in the fall.
Earnhardt Jr. winning at Talladega one more time before his career ends just feels right, especially considering Talladega was the site of his father Dale Earnhardt’s last win in the Cup Series.
