With only one chance at Sonoma to get the job done, the chances are slim. Many consider Daytona International Speedway to be a better chance of the tracks with just one race left on the schedule for the season for Earnhardt Jr. to visit victory lane.
Although he has four career wins at Daytona, his last one being in 2015, he has an average finish of 17.0 in his last three races. You have to go back to 2015 when Earnhardt Jr. finished third in the Daytona 500 and won the July race to find his most recent top-five finishes.
A win at Sonoma would be a surprise, but the numbers have been trending up for Earnhardt Jr. at the road course.
