NASCAR: Five Predictions for the Go Bowling 400 at Kansas
A Return to Lackluster Racing
The Go Bowling 400 is this Saturday night, but regardless of when this race is run, it will be a return to the lackluster side of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
When you look at the racing this season, it’s still been dominated by 1.5-mile tracks. And of those 1.5-mile tracks, almost all of them have been boring. Tracks like Atlanta and Las Vegas were not good races, regardless of who was fighting afterwards.
It’s been a plaguing problem with NASCAR; they try to reach a bigger audience by going to tracks like Kansas, but as far as an interesting race for TV goes, those tracks more than likely turn out to be boring.
Like typical 1.5-mile tracks, once someone gets out in front, the clean air will be a huge advantage. This could play an even bigger role on Saturday night as the cool temperatures will only help preserve tires instead of making them a potential issue.
Stages will not have an impact on this racing either. While they do bring out cautions and give drivers a chance to race for the lead, if drivers don’t have the speed on restarts, they won’t get very far.
On Saturday night, expect cool temperatures and one driver to hold a major lead over the rest of the field. Cautions will be rare for the Go Bowling 400 as NASCAR returns to the lackluster racing at a 1.5-mile cookie cutter track.
