NASCAR: Which Four-Car Team is Downsizing?

Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin don’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon. Daniel Suarez was just promoted this season to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series to replace Carl Edwards after his retirement. Matt Kenseth has denied the talk of retirement soon and currently sits in the last spot of the playoffs.
All four of those driver and sponsorship combinations seem to be pretty solid heading into the 2018 season. Despite the occasional talk of Matt Kenseth retiring or replacing Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Hendrick Motorsports, the driver lineup for the 2018 season for JGR looks like it will stay the same.
But then again, many thought the same thing last year before the Carl Edwards retirement announcement.
Even if it were to be Kenseth who left or retired, Erik Jones would more than likely get the call to move from Furniture Row Racing, a Joe Gibbs Racing affiliate team, and join the four-car JGR operation, meaning the likelihood of a downsize to three cars is not as plausible.
