IndyCar: Championship Standings After Toronto

The 12th race of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season is officially in the books. With still five of the 17 races remaining, how are the championship standings shaping out? Who are the real contenders, and who are the pretenders?

Coming off of the 12th race of the 2017 IndyCar season at Toronto, Scott Dixon is still on top of the championship standings. Dixon drives for Chip Ganassi Racing, which is one of only three teams represented in the top 5. Team Penske owns the drivers from 2nd through 4th place and has another driver tied for 5th with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
