Kyle Larson

Silliest Scenario

The craziest thing that could happen is Kyle Larson leaving Chip Ganassi Racing for another team. What would make this even crazier is if he went to a Ford team like Stewart-Haas Racing despite the fact that they are a four-car team. Him going to Team Penske would probably be the craziest scenario since that Ford team only has two cars, but in general, Kyle Larson driving anything other than a Chevrolet car in the 2018 season is the craziest scenario.

Less Silly Scenario

If Kyle Larson were to leave Chip Ganassi Racing, he will be aiming to land with the top team in the sport. That team is Hendrick Motorsports, the team that has won 12 championships over the course of the past 22 seasons. Larson filling the seat of the #88 Chevrolet currently driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr., the 14-time defending winner of NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver Award, would be the best possible scenario in terms of the sport’s popularity. It would also put him on the same team with young rising star Chase Elliott and seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson.

Least Silly Scenario

Let’s get real here. Chip Ganassi Racing would be crazy to let Kyle Larson end up anywhere but in the seat of his current #42 Chevrolet in the 2018 season and beyond. Larson is the top young driver in the sport and he has risen to that position on only a two-car team. As the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Right now, there is nothing broken and thus nothing to fix. Also, Larson has expressed interest in driving in the Indianapolis 500 one day, and Chip Ganassi gives him a real chance to do that as both a NASCAR and IndyCar team owner.
