#2 and #1

KYLE LARSON. #2. [Last Race: 2nd (-)] — Kyle Larson was never really a factor toward the front at the Brickyard 400, and his day came to an end early thanks to a late wreck. He maintained his spot in 2nd place in the championship standings despite the wreck, and his gap over 3rd place is still pretty large. He and the #1 driver in these rankings have been on another level as a whole so far this season, so it would be unfair to drop Larson from the #2 spot just because of one bad race.. No. 42. Chip Ganassi Racing, Chevrolet

#1. [Last Race: 1st (-)] — Martin Truex Jr. would have had a legitimate chance at his fourth victory of the season had he not been involved in a crash with Kyle Busch early in the final stage of the Brickyard 400. While he did wreck, he was in the lead while it happened, so he was still very fast during the race. Also, his lead in the championship standings over 2nd place Kyle Larson actually grew. Given his massive amounts of total points, stage points and playoff points, there is still no driver that deserves the #1 spot in these rankings more than Truex Jr. does. Wrecks happen.. No. 78. Furniture Row Racing, Toyota. MARTIN TRUEX JR.
