Intended Audience

Q6. You touch upon NASCAR history that many people, even diehard fans, may not know. How hard was it for you to collect some of the facts you did?

A6: This really comes down to the production staff at Spoke Media. They were just incredible to work with. Alia Tavakolian & Mark Moncrieff came to TMS for a race and then they were on the road with me, talking with fans in Kansas City, Richmond, Charlotte. Josh Kumler really got into the history of the sport, and did a lot of research to dig up some of these fascinating, lesser-known stories.  But we got a lot of the most interesting stuff from listening – interviewing fans, drivers, living legends. There are some things you can’t google or find at the library – you just got to sit down with Bobby Allison and hash it out.

Q7. From your perspective, is this series geared toward NASCAR fans that have been watching the sport for decades, those who have just started watching over the past 10 years or so, or those who may not yet be watching full-time?

A7: I don’t want to be too diplomatic, but I really have to say all of the above. We tried to make sure there’s something for everybody. For NASCAR fans who love the sport and already eat and sleep and breathe racing, we’re here to give them an all-access pass. They’ll hear drivers like Kevin Harvick and Bobby Allison share their real thoughts on racing in their own words. And we’re inviting fans to take a closer look at NASCAR things they might not normally consider – like the science behind speed, why racing became a professional sport, the wild things promoters do to draw crowds. For those who are new to NASCAR or don’t watch full-time – the stories are compelling on their own. Sure, the uninitiated will get a crash course in why this sport is special, what a race day is really like at the track, why racing means so much to fans – but the stories are interesting even if you don’t end up a NASCAR die-hard by the end of the series.
