#2 and #1

#2. [Last Race: 2nd (-)] — Kyle Busch maintains his #2 spot in these rankings after backing up his first victory in over a season at Pocono with a 7th place finish at Watkins Glen after starting from the pole position. He shot up to 2nd place in the championship standings as a result of the Watkins Glen race, and he really does look like a championship contender as the playoffs are quickly approaching, as he seems to be getting hot at just the right time in order to make a run for his second championship in three seasons.. No. 18. Joe Gibbs Racing, Toyota. KYLE BUSCH

No. 78. Furniture Row Racing, Toyota. MARTIN TRUEX JR.. #1. [Last Race: 1st (-)] — After his win at Watkins Glen, Martin Truex Jr. now leads all Cup Series in championship points, stage points, playoff points and victories so far this season, and his leads in the first three categories listed are huge and practically insurmountable. There is no other driver who is even close to being on the level that he is on right now, which is why he maintains a firm grasp on the #1 spot in these rankings. It may take a number of first-lap wrecks for him in order for another driver to even be considered for this top spot.
