Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s response

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was not exactly supportive of Harvick’s comments, and rightfully not. While many of the comments were true, Earnhardt Jr. was hurt by some of the more controversial opinions Harvick had in regard to why his recent lack of success is supposedly the reason for NASCAR’s stunted growth.

"“I have an incredible amount of respect for (Harvick). I found some of those comments hurtful. I still respect him as a champion and ambassador for the sport. That’s just the way it is, I guess. I hate that’s how he feels.” “I put a lot into this sport, and I know that I might not have met everyone’s expectations, but I certainly exceeded my own and I’m super proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish. I hope that I brought something to the table and left a good impact.”"

A few days later, Clint Bowyer, who is one of Kevin Harvick’s Stewart-Haas Racing teammates, chimed in with his own take on Earnhardt Jr.’s legacy. Here is what he had to say.
