NASCAR: Top Five Teams Who Should Join the Truck Series
By Alex Herbst
Cunningham Motorsports
Perhaps one of the most successful teams in the ARCA Racing Series in recent years has been Cunningham Motorsports. Winning the 2016 championship with Chase Briscoe, the team currently operates two full-time and one part-time team in the unofficial fourth rung of the NASCAR development ladder. Shane Lee and Dalton Sargeant are their current drivers, with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ty Majeski running select races.

The team has a long history in racing, at one point operating teams in the Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series. Word surfaced near the beginning of 2017 that Cunningham could return to the Trucks in the coming year on a part-time schedule, but little has been heard about this effort since. However, adding another Ford F-150 to the stable would certainly help stabilize the Truck Series.
The Camping World Truck Series is currently dominated by two manufacturers – Chevrolet and Toyota. Only two full-time teams, Young’s Motorsports and Brad Keselowski Racing, run the blue ovals. The dearth of Ford pickups in the series is noticeable, and one that should be corrected by an existing organization, like Cunningham or even others.
